The Zulu is inspired by South African Nguni warrior culture. Historically this form of shield was used with Javelins and short spears. The strategy employed with this shield was to charge an opponent, wrench their shield away with the edge, and then strike into the opening.

This punch version is what was historically used.

Its dimensions are, 3’ long by 2’ wide, and 2.5’ point to point, diagonally.

Constructed of:

Polyethylene 2.2lb as the core. Handle is PVC or Fiberglass and is covered by cloth tape on the grip and 4lb XPLE on the shield back. Boss is circular, made from 4# XLPE.
